A group of Catalans living in North America have joint efforts to organize a referendum for Catalonia Independence (“Usa Decides”). Previous similar experiences have been carried out in Amsterdam and Quebec. This initiative is related to the local referenda held in Catalonia since last september. These local referenda are not legally binding. In fact they are the outcome of a citizen driven movement that has attracted foreign attention. So far, more than half a milions people have cast their vote. Support for independence has reach 90% of the overall votes.
